Blood and Jazz
Rita Zhukov has become a household name in the theater world and has recently broken into movies. The stage role that started getting her real notice was in Six Dead Crows, a murder mystery about in which the victim was a powerful wizard. Rita played the victim’s daughter and murderer. She then went on to co-star in Lace Days, a play about three women discussing the ups and downs of life as one of them battles depression. Many argue that her greatest performance was in Midnight Sun, in which she played the mother of two small children whose husband leaves to fight in the Dark War, and her struggle to keep her family alive and staying positive as the front lines shift. Her next role was in Tomorrow, My Dear, written by the well known comedic playwright Timothy Hughes. The play is a lighthearted high society comedy about a young suitor’s attempts to propose which are accidentally thwarted for days by friends, family, and misunderstandings. Shortly after, she was cast as Gwendolyn Richards in Smoke and Mirrors, the first of what is hoped to be a long running series of Mr. Dawn movies, based on the pulp comics.
